This blog post is the second of three drafts of the Creative Non-Fiction essay . This blog post will be containing the first of three drafts for the Creative Non-Fiction. In this blog it will explain the events that happened in week 5. Week 5 Reflection This week wasn’t really interesting in the scene stuff going on in my life. I mean we didn’t have school on Tuesday because for some reason all the professors were like hey everyone one we have stuff to do so you don’t have school today which I was ok with even thought I still had homework but I got it done and it is now posted to my blog which I have to upgrade a little because it looks like I haven’t put any effort into making it look nice, that has to change. Also on Thursday we talked about the Miracle Women in which we were supposed to read and highlight the showing and telling scenes by using a picture or something else. To be honest I still don’t understand how to look for a showing scene. I sort of understand that a telling scene is giving description to a scene, and showing scene is a bigger description. I mean Professor Mangini doses a good job explaining it and I’m just not catching on to it, or maybe the professor is saying to information very clearly and I just have to listen more carefully to understand the concept. Well whether it is me not understanding it completely or I just have to listen more carefully I have to understand it to complete my assignments no questions asked. So, enough worrying about and it problems time to talk about what is going on in my life. Well to begin with my life is great still taking life one day at a time still wish I wasn’t so lazy and had something to do other than go to sleep and play Xbox 360 all day long. Almost got the exo zombies achievement last night but my friend Ryan lagged out at the last step and me and my friend Chris died at the last seconded so it was sort of depressing. That pretty much sums up week 5 of class and the week just in general. In the week of 2/9-2/12 we these are the events that unfolded . 2/10- Today in class we discussed the three readings Picturing the Personal Essay by Tim Bascom, What is Creative Nonfiction? By Lee Gutkind, How to Write a Narrative Essay Using Scenes (the outside world) and how the talked about different ways to create and structure a creative narrative essay. A creative essay has to be true and accurate. Also we worked on and created our websites so that we can start our digital portfolios. 2/11-went for a walk to see a non-native and I was walking and talking into a mic just to find out that it had stopped that was annoying and to top it off I lost one of the earbuds on the cement to inform you the earbud was gray I found one but not the other but after getting pissed off I went to a pizza and got me some pizza it super good. 2/12- Had to stop at Wawa to get some breakfast because we were out of cereal got scrambled eggs and a doughnut not the best breakfast but still hit the spot. So in class we worked on the website and learn how to create categories for our website also played around with the website. Learned a little about telling and showing a theme by watching two clips from fraise blurs day off. 2/13- parents left to go to Atlantic city for the weekend so I was left home alone and I have to say it was awesome why because I was as loud as I wanted and nobody told me to quiet down which was awesome. 2/14- This day was interesting because I started off the day as another until my sister came home and told me I had to move my stuff up to our office because she had some friends over. Then after I got my stuff to the office my said some of her guy friends were coming over so I told her that they can’t stay over and they didn’t and I was really responsible about it . But the freakiest part was when I was driven in the snow because I have never done it before and the conditions were bad so it was interesting. I also forgot to get my mom a card for Valentine’s Day so I had to get one for her. 2/15- Today was a kick back hang with my friend type of day woke up around 8:30am took a shower around ten and took one of my friends out to dinner to catch up because I haven’t seen her in a while thank god the roads weren’t crappy. In life there will be places that a not native to you like going to a new school or a new place for the first time. Non-Native Place
Well a place where that is not native would have to be the world and time itself I know it sounds far-fetched but think about it we all are non-native to it. Because was saying there's many places where I call not native as wide but my physics teacher once said there are infinite number of possibilities out there and only you can make his exact words but I'm saying word for word but through the eyes of a student that is what I got out of it. I mean there are a lot of areas where I'm just native on the I'm not native to like talking to girls it's a big one because I can't do it okay mean I can't do it but she like it was self-esteem problem to me that would be a place where I'm not I'm not used to it I'm not like oh this is okay and is nothing I don't really make friends like whenever I make a friend it’s usually just for a short time but I still don't have many friends not good at making once it's not even that it's just the fact that every time I think I have a new friend I either a don't see you again we become friends. The other reason that the world is a nonnative place is because you don’t know what is out there you can only guess. Also you don’t know what the future has in store for you and it is a scary concept. When you think about it the concept of the world is about knowing the unknown and then you’re told to embrace the unknown but how can one brace the unknown even when the unknown is known and it dangers of happening. Also the concept of time going on after your time is up is a non-native place because you don’t know what will happen or where you will go after and the fact of leaving people you love and care about or memories behind is a really scary place that is not native to me. There are many place or things that is not native to me personally but this I think is more non-native that anything. In this blog assignment there are places were we feel safe a native to that is what this blog is about. Native Place
My downstairs is a native place because of the events that occur day to day and the events that have occurred from the stained carpet to the recliner chair that sits in the corner. It seems like yesterday that I first set my feet down on the hardwood flooring that makes up the downstairs everyday I'm down here either just relaxing on the recliner or I'm yell at the video game that is set up down here so I can forget about the harsh reality of the world and its cruel and devious way. This place is native because it is a sanctuary were in am not judged for being a gamer and it also allows me to express my personality rather than being shut out by the rest of the world. This is a place where creativity and imagination come to life and there is nothing that can or will stop it in its tracks. This is a place one is free to learn to enjoy to cry to life one step at a time. This is a place where I feel safe and secure. This is a place I can call home and nobody could say differently. It is the place where I go to relaxed.as the sun beams down on the old worn-out couch all ripped but full of history and of the memories of the days when it was used as a bed for friends or I too tired to get up after playing hours of video games. It is a place where the black leather couch as it sits in the comer collecting dust underneath in the shadows. That is a place where one can be free from the evils and harm of the outside world, it is where a statue of a giraffe stands watch as days going by and everything gets older but becomes closer in heart than ever before. That is a place that is native and has meaning in some shape or form. Here is the weekly reflection for 2/2- 2/8 and the events that happened between in between these dates To add to the conversation of saying you hit like a girl or throw like a girl I can’t really take a side because of both sides are at fault and can't win because if you take the side were you see it as an insulting then you are going to say that the boys are at fault and that they can’t say that but the problem is that how you ask and tell them to stop mostly likely won’t work because of the way a guy is wired. and if you take the guys side one it is frowned upon in society and two that isn't showing dominance but showing that you need to get help or better yet just not date or marry anyone. I am not an expert on thus but I do know not to hit a woman but to treat them with respect. To add to this when a women is raped most of the time it’s the guys fault but on rare cases the man was raped or the women is lying about being raped just to get revenge on the guy now hitting and women is a whole new ball park because it doesn’t matter who you are it is never ok to hit a women but it’s also a sketchy subject because of the way its viewed because of the law that a guy hitting a women is in result in him going to jail as a women hitting a man is ok. Also, that the thought of a guy hitting a woman is frowned upon as a woman hitting a guy is empowering makes no sense. Also you just can’t teach men to be more compassionate you can’t talk down to a man like a dog or he will just hate you even more the way that a man learns compassion and understanding the rights from wrong is time itself it can’t be learn in mere days it may take decades or centuries to learn it and for every guy to do it that is a unrealistic goal that are slim to none of success.
I liked the fact that professor Mangini gave us an extension on the four home works also good thing I had him look it over before I turned it in because I needed to improve one of the writings so it didn't look like I was plagiarizing or anything So today in class we went over each other's secrets and I was surprised at some of them and others weren't that surprising like Hunters that was a little shocking but it is nothing I haven't heard be so it wasn't that surprising. Also professor Mangini had the class close our eyes and write down what we heard to prove a point about the writing process. Today I did some homework and found out that I'm going to be home alone from Thursday to Sunday which is nice. Writers Round Table
The lights are bright as the smell of the coffee and bagels fill the area around the shop. There are two men both are good friends. Steven is an English professor for a major institution; Hank is going back to college to earn his master’s in business. Both decided to meet up at the café to get together and talk about how their lives are going. Steven brings up the conversation of writing process due to the fact that he can’t understand why his students don’t understand the meaning behind the books “Zen in the Art of writing” by Ray Bradbury, “Bird by Bird: Some Instructions On Writing and Life” by Anna Lamott, and “How Can You Create Fiction When Reality Comes to Call” by Carolyn Chutes are simple to understand. Steven: I always wonder why some students come up to me at the end of class and ask how you commence to start to begin to an almost new type of writing. Steven: What I tell them is it’s like trying to scale a glacier. It’s hard to get your footing, and your fingertips get all red and frozen and torn up. Hank: They don’t understand what you mean by it’s like a glacier. That’s like me going in to a sales meeting and saying, ‘As you can see our sales are going Bang! Bang! Bang!” it’s not describing anything. Hank: The problem for any writer in any field is being circumscribed by what has gone before or what is being printed that very day in books and magazines. Steven: While I can’t argue with what you just said there is a certain point that is not getting across to my student. Hank: Well one of my co-workers Anna Lamott said E.L.Doctorow once said that” writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can see only as far as the headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way” even you must understand that. Steven: So a student can only see as far as the professor wants them see, but they can still understand it at least. Hank: Exactly Steven: I mean I have bright students like Ray and Carolyn that understand the base of the meaning but still can’t grasp the full meaning of where the meaning comes from. Hank: that is something that I can’t help you with not to be mean but they are just getting to know you give it time and I guaranty they will understand it in due time. Steven: yay I guess your right about that. Steven: Oh, one more question if you have the time? Hank: I would be happy to answer one more question before I have to get back to class? Steven: How do you know so much about the writing process? Hank: when you had a professor in college freshman year who used analogies to describe his lessons you can learn a lot from someone like that. Steve: You don’t say and who would that be? Hank: Someone who has his mind in the right places and wants his students to become better writer not only grade wise but in general so that can succeed in life. Steven: wonder who that is? The events between 2/2 and 2/9n are described in this blog part of the website To add to the conversation of saying you hit like a girl or throw like a girl I can’t really take a side because of both sides are at fault and can't win because if you take the side were you see it as an insulting then you are going to say that the boys are at fault and that they can’t say that but the problem is that how you ask and tell them to stop mostly likely won’t work because of the way a guy is wired. and if you take the guys side one it is frowned upon in society and two that isn't showing dominance but showing that you need to get help or better yet just not date or marry anyone.
